5/08/17 10:20 AM   WHY ON EARTH AM I HERE?

Ever have a day when it seems like you are useless, worthless and have no real reason to "BE" at all? Do you start feeling a little sorry for yourself and "wish" you could just curl up somewhere and not "BE" anymore? I think we have all had at least one day like that in our lives when we feel we are totally alone, left out of life and have no purpose at all for "being".

I know as I get older, I have more of those days. Sometimes I just feel useless and like there's nothing in my life that "excites" me anymore. I am not able to get out and "do" all those things that I once did, and in my mind, that renders me "useless". It's easy to get excited about life when you have good health, strength and feel a purpose in life. We go to work every day and, even though we don't admit it sometimes, that gives us a sense of accomplishment. We have a family that we come home to and cook for and dote over and as a parent, we feel we have a purpose in our life. Then time moves on, and so do our kids, and perhaps our spouse is no longer around... what do we do? Suddenly, we feel totally alone and without purpose! Depression sets in, and we start brooding about 'yesterday' and all that we had - when more likely, we didn't even give 'yesterday' a thought when we were actually living it.

"the older we get, the smarter we are". Right? And that is debatable, LOL! - but what if we start to focus NOW on our REAL reason for being HERE? What if we could see WHY we are US in the first place and just WHY God made us? What if we start the day our children are born teaching them to KNOW the REAL reason we are all HERE? What if we start the day we are married, before the I Do! knowing WHY we are HERE? Yep! That would be fantastic, but since we didn't start at the beginning, we are now wondering why we are HERE since our purpose for being has seemingly diminished. Growing up, getting the job of our dreams, marrying the love of our life, having such beautiful children and just taking care of life " content with being. NOW we sit here feeling full of despair and worthless! BUT you don't have to be OLD to feel like that " the devil has a way of getting into our minds regardless of our age and he really does a number on us. BUT if you KNOW WHY you are HERE " he can't get away with his little tricks.

This old song that probably most people today haven't heard, but it puts it all in prospective for me:

"From the dust of the earth God created man.
His breath made man a living soul.
Then My God so loved the world, He gave His only Son.
And that is why I love Him so.

My hands were made to help my neighbor
My eyes were made to read God's Word.
My feet were made to walk in His footsteps.
My body is the temple of the Lord....

For I was made in His likeness, created in His image.
Oh I was born to serve the Lord.
And I can't deny Him, I'll always walk beside Him.
FOR I WAS BORN TO SERVE THE LORD!"

WHY AM I HERE?
God said Let us make man in OUR image "according to our likeness".
Gen 1:26

Isaiah 43:7 Even every one that is called by my name: FOR I HAVE CREATED HIM FOR MY GLORY, I have formed him; yea, I have made him.

So! The ultimate purpose of man, according to the scriptures is simply to GLORIFY GOD! TO SERVE GOD! TO RULE OVER CREATION! TO REPRODUCE GODLY OFFSPRING!!

Let's focus on one aspect of WHY we are here: To Glorify God!

In Psalm 100:2,3, we're told to worship God with gladness and know that the Lord is God. It is HE who made us, and we are his; we are his people, the sheep of his pasture. A part of what it looks like to glorify God is to acknowledge who God is (our Creator) and to praise and worship Him!

I looked up a few scriptures to give us a deeper insight to how important it is to GLORIFY God and what some of the reasons are for GLORIFYING God:

Psalm 150 " the entire chapter: Praise ye the Lord. Praise God in his sanctuary: praise him in the firmament of his power. Praise him for his mighty acts: praise him according to his excellent greatness. Praise him with the sound of the trumpet: praise him with the psaltery and harp.

Gen. 29:35 " And she conceived again, and bare a son: and she said, Now will I praise the LORD.

Ex 15:11 " Who is like unto thee, O Lord, among the gods? who is like thee, glorious in holiness, fearful in praises, doing wonders?

Lev. 19:24 " But in the fourth year all the fruit thereof shall be holy to praise the Lord withall.

Deu. 26:19 " And to make thee high above all nations which he hath made, in praise, and in name, and in honour; and that thou mayest be an holy people unto the Lord thy God, as he hath spoken.

Jud 5:2-3 " Praise ye the Lord for the avenging of Israel, when the people willingly offered themselves. Hear, O ye kings; give ear, O ye princes; I, even I, will sing unto the Lord; I will sing praise to the Lord God of Israel.

Ps. 9:1-2 " I will praise thee, O Lord, with my whole heart; I will shew forth all thy marvelous works. I will be glad and rejoice in thee: I will sing praise to thy name, O thou most High.

Matt. 21:16 " Yea; have ye never read, Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings thou hast perfected praise?

Luke 1:64 "And his mouth was opened immediately, and his tongue loosed, and he spake, and praised God.

Luke 19:37 "the whole multitude of the disciples began to rejoice and praise God with a loud voice for all the mighty works that they had seen;

SO MANY MORE IN BOTH NEW AND OLD TESTAMENT.
And one of my favorites: Psalm 100 (KJV)

Make a joyful noise unto the LORD, all ye lands.
Serve the LORD with gladness: come before his presence with singing.
Know ye that the LORD he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.
Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name.
For the LORD is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations.

Ron Kenoly sings a song that reaches the depths of my soul:

"We gather as God's dwelling place, A house of living stone
We've given praise Lord, You've made Your presence known
Now we worship and sing " Hallelujah " Christ has risen from the dead
But if our praises cease, If we hold our peace, The rocks will cry out instead

I ain't gonna let No rock outpraise me, I ain't gonna let No rock cry in my place

I ain't gonna let No rock outpraise me, Ain't gonna let it sing In my place

I will make a joyful noise, I will sing a joyful song ,

That is pleasing to the ear of the Lord

I will make a joyful noise I will sing a joyful song

That is pleasing to the ear of the Lord."
